Post Door Locks

On my '65, I can't lock my doors until after they are closed; if you lock it & then shut it, the button pops back up.Is this normal?

It's annoying reaching over the seat to lock the passenger door after that person gets out & shuts the door. Is there anything that I can do to make it where you can lock it & then shut it?

Thanks

mine do the same thing....I am assuming that it is a way of "dummy proofing" the locks. Can not lock your keys in the car.

Yep, that's exactly how they work. All of the cars produced during that time worked that way.

Never lock your keys inside

Sounds right to me. I used to think of it as inconvenient also. I used to have a 67 and was used to being able to lock the doors. Now I'm used to it and like the others said....you can't lock your keys in the car. I kind of like that, even though I rarely lock the doors. If you really don't like it, you might try to swap the latches out with 67 pieces.

I haven't thought about those things doing that in a long time. Next time try this. Push the inside door lock button down just like any other car then, as you close the door push in and hold the outside door handle button as you close the door. This should let you close the door and have it remain locked.
