Default Electronic Ignition?

Well, I've been thinking about putting electronic ingition in my 70 coupe stock 302 2v. Is this a good idea? I've looked into it and it seems to be a good performance boost as well as help starting. Is this just advertising talking or would it help? Are much modifications required to put one in and is it fairly easy to do? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I love electronic ignition, I hated setting points, and replacing points. I bought a new distibutor and msd box, but I think if I had to do it again, I'd try that new item they wave that sits in place of the old points setup I think it's call petronics or something like that...

I put a Pertronix electronic ignition in my '67 and it is great. Starts like a new car. It fits inside the distributor. Took about 30 minutes. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can. I also had to put in a new coil with built in resistance but that only cost about $15. All in all, well worth the money.

My advice is go ahead and move up to electronic ignition any way you can. I swapped mine over to Duraspark years ago. I really enjoy not screwing around with points anymore. The swap is pretty simple, but putting in the Petronix kit would be ten times easier, and gives a cleaner look. If your not comfortable rewiring your car, get the Petronix.
