OK, heres what I just got: (BTW measurements were taken with a "garment" measure, horizontal:stretched tight from point to point, not laid along the body contours, vertical WAS laid along the contours).
"289", using the center of the "8" as the measure point, H:5 5/8" back from front edge of fender, not the headlight bucket
V: 1" below the fender crease.
"pony" , center of emblem as measuring point, H:6 1/2" back from wheel well, (this should put the back hole right at 8" back) V: 9" even down from fender crease
"mustang"script, measured from the bottom of the script and far left tip of "m", H: 9 1/4 back from wheel well, V: 9 3/4 from crease to bottom of script.
