Oustide dimensions of the 289 and 302 are identical. So a 289/302 will fit in any first gen mustang since they were all offered with those engines. BTW 289 switched to 302 in early 68.
However not all 302 blocks are created equal. If you are going to build up an engine, then you will probalby want to be more specific about what year engine. |

well see here's the thing. my ariganal plan was to convert my I6 66 stang to A 289 but now my dad is saying that I should keep it in stock form. so I am going to keep my 66 in stock form and buy another stang with A 289. right now we have are eye on A 66 that has been sitting for A couple of years. I can get it for cheap. 6 to 800. but the engine needs to be rebuilt. and since I am rebuilding the I6 I want to buy another 289/302 that will run and then I will rebuild it after I get the 6cyl rebuilt. I haven't found an engine yet so I can't tell you what year.
thanks ford kid |
