Engine noise?
Hey fella's,
I'm new here and need some advice. I just recently rebuilt my 65 convertible. All stock, new cam, lifters, pistons, rings, bearings, everything. Was smoking a little but became worse year after year, so I decided it was time to fix. I have a noise I can't seem to find. Sounds like a lifter ticking on the right bank. When I first got it running and adjusted the lifter it sounded good. I drove it down the road about 2 miles and came back. The noise started when I slowed down to turn in. It doesn't matter now if the engine is warm or cold. I still hear this ticking sound. I pulled the valve cover and readjusted the lifters on the right side but the noise is still there. The car runs great and sounds good except for this ticking sound which is very distinct when the engine idles down from driving. The only thing I done different was install exhaust manifold gaskets where before it was metal to metal. I have checked for exhaust leaks and can't find any. I am open to any suggestions and would appreciate any help. This is driving me crazy! Thanks |
Re: Engine noise?
Well I have went through this thing again, adjusted valves, took off exhaust manifold and checked it out, checked donut gasket. I can;t seem to find the problem. Is there anybody out there who might have a suggestion. I'm going crazy over this, even though it's too cold to drive with the top down:D
