How are these oil pressure numbers?
I am collecting parts for my motor build, and I have a question. First here are my numbers:
All numbers are from a Autometer gauge All numbers are on a completely stock motor The motor had 10W30 when the numbers were taken The block has 140K on it. Cold idle = 50PSI Warm Idle = 20PSI When I give it gas it climbs very well, about 10psi for every 1000rpm. Now, I have read on the net that my numbers are ok, especially if the pressure rises with the rpm. Are these numbers ok for a supercharged car? I will be pushing 350-400rwhp. Ian

Those numbers look pretty good for your mileage. My car has about the same mileage and PSI numbers and I'm pushing about 8 #'s of boost with no problems ( yet ).

Thanks for looking.
I will be doing a compression check this week, and if everything looks ok, the shortblock will stay in. If I think there is a problem, out she comes I want to make sure that it will take 360-400RWHP. The block has been maintained since new, and I have taken extra special care. It may sound odd, but I change my oil every 3500-5000KM. I know this may be overkill, but better safe then sorry. I will be changing all my seals, rear main, front cover, ect.. so I will be able to run synthetic oil this year. The blower should also prefer synthetic. Any more comments? Keep them coming..... Ian

Cold idle - 50-55 psi
Warm idle - 35-40 psi This is on a 39,000 mile stock bottom end motor. E PS - I change my oil every 500-1000 miles! (just because it sits sooooo long b/t regular uses.)
