Question exhaust problem

Hi all, I need some of ya'lls expertise, I have dual exhaust on my 65 coupe. The problem is that the driver side pipe makes a popping sound when iddling (I guess when driving too, but only notice when iddle). I think it might be at the connection of the pipe and the manifold but my stepdad thinks it may be a leaking head gasket. Thanks for helping.
