Finding correct paint color.

I own a 1970 Mach1 Mustang. I am in the process of restoring it, but do not know the paint code for the Medium Blue Metallic color. I have been told that it was on the door tag. Problem with that is, the guy I bought it from had the car repainted years earlier. The job was sloppy and everything was painted over. So if anyone could tell me how I could find the correct paint code so I can have my car painted the way it is supposed to be, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here are the paint chips and codes for 1970.

See if you have the sticker on the drivers door still. It should have the correct code. That is if you still have the original door on the car.

I also own a Medium Blue Met., 1970 Mach 1. The correct paint code is "Q" which is stamped on the data plate on the inner passenger fender. I also have the words "MEDBLU M " on the plate.

When I painted my car 6 years ago, I tried to get this color from PPG paints and could not. After much debate, I ended up using a 1995 Mustang Blue. It looks great on the car, but it's not correct. I've only seen 2 other Mach 1's this Med. Blue color, and I've since found out that Ford made less than 1000 Mach 1's this color in 1970.

My advice is to try to find something closer than I did since this is so rare.
