FMX Transmission Pan

Hey how is everbody doing? I have a fmx tranmission on my 69 Cougar and have another Fmx that I am about to stick in my 69 Mustang. The pans are botehr leaking and I pull down the pan and replaced the filter and gasket and still it leaks. The problem is that no matter where I look I cant find a Transmission pan for an FMX. Do any of you know where I can get one? Thanks alot

Re: FMX Transmission Pan

Unless you have a crack or hole in the pan you should be able to fix it. First remove the pan. Lay the edge on a flat solid surface. Flaten all the bolt hole areas with a hammer. If the pan has been over tightened they get bent and leak. You can also put some silicone on ea. bolt. The pan may not be what is leaking. Fluid might be running down from above and makes it look like the pan is leaking. Look at where the linkage goes thru the trans case. There are lever seals on the bellcrank that always leak. Check the trans cooling line fittings. If you need to clean the are to see better, get some carb or brake clearer and spray the area clean. Drive the car and then look to see what's wet.

If in fact you do need a new FMX pan, John's Mustang in Houston, Tx. lists them.

Thanks for the advice! I actually already tried banging down the bolt holes and that did not seem to do much of anything. I originally thought that the leak was coming from above so I cleans up the bottom of the trans and could see that it was indeed coming from the pan. I was going to get on of those Duraprene gaskets which are supose to be the best anf try one of them. I would really just like to get a new pan. Hey "REV", I checked out the mustang place you told me and can seem to find any pans. I found gaskets and filters but cant seem to find an FMX pan. If you find it again please send me the parts number. Thanks alot!
