Frame Problems

I had an accident in my 67 mustang gt and my "subframe" is bent. It is a part of the fram is welded on to hold on the bumper, sort of on the left or right side. Like if you were to have a head on collision with something it would seem to bend it and then you would have a bent frame. Anyway my question is this, can i just cut this off and weld on a new one? and where would i find a new one to begin with becuase i can't seem to find them in a parts book.... I was also thinking that i should just get another mustang and use the parts off of it to just replace all the damaged ones to my old stang...

Sounds like you bent the frame rail and apron. I don't think these are being duplicated. I could be wrong though. If they aren't you have to buy that section of the car, used, or a donar car for the parts. It can be repaired, but not a job for the hobbiest

They do make frame rail replacements and aprons for '66's I know. Try the Paddock. Gearhead's right though, This isn't a job for the novice.

Thanks, Rev.

I didn't know they made reproduction of the frame and apron.

You need a GOOD PROFESSIONAL to do the work though.

I live in Houston, and there is only one place around here that I would trust to do that kind of work. So I would guess to say you would be lucky if there is somebody near you who could truely do it right. A little off on the measurements or bad welding and it could mean your life. I would look around and even travel to get it done right, it is still cheaper than getting a new/another car especially if it means a lot to you.
