Grenaded distributor.....again
Now 6 teeth are left where 17 used to reside. And those 6 look like.... not good. I looked down the hole and the cam gear seems to be fine.
Heres the problem: Over the last two years I've sheared the roll pin, which holds the gear to the shaft, off a half dozen times. Now I stripped the teeth off. Every time this occurs several hundred miles apart. The distributor is the stock unit with the stock cast gear. The cam is a comp cams 280H. I drove the car for a year before I installed the cam and never had this problem. I've called comp cams and have repeatedly gotten the " let me check and I'll call you right back" line, but....they never call. Any help would be appreciated -thanks Jesse |

Arent you supposed to switch out to a bronze gear for a lot of the newer cams? Due to the different matierals used in modern/newer cams not "getting along" with stock steel gears?
At this point it cant hurt to try it. Besides this is a good excure to go with a new hi-po dist. HEI anyone? Hope it helps, J
