Halogen Lights - Battery
I just bought some new Halogen lights for my 67. The other lights were very dim, so i went with the upgrade. However, with the new lights i have noticed some unwanted movement in my ammeter. If I turn the lights on in Neutral or Park, it stays at 0. If i put the car in drive, the amm drops to a negative, unless...i am pressing the gas. so it only stays negatvie for instance at a stop sign or red light.. Is this normal..?

The lamps pull alot more power. I installed them in my 68 too. I have same response at idle. BUT, they will burn out you headlamp switch. I burned out two before I figured what was wrong. Now, I have a relay between switch and lamps. So that the power to the lamps doesn't come through the switch.
I have had mine in for 8 years or so now. They sure are brighter then originals. |
I've had Halogens in my 65 for 4 yrs. Had a problem with the original headlight switch andburned out a foreign made replacement. Put in a Motorcraft replacement headlight switch in 1998 and have not had any problem in 3 yrs.
