Default 12 sec 306 head and intake combo

I am planning on building a 12 sec 306 starting from a Probe Industries 306 short block. Does anyone know a good head intake combo that will get me into the 12s out of the box. I don't have a ton of money so i want to keep the cost of heads and intake under 1800. Also will the AFR 185cc head fit the 306. Their website says they are for the 351W. Thanks for the help in advance!

Holley Intake+Trickflow, Canfield, or AFR heads.

Yes the engine will be naturally aspirated. The 185cc are only 50 bucks more and i want to go as fast as possible. I don't know too much about heads so i didn't know if the 185cc would make a lot more power than the 165cc.

with the 185 on a 306 there will not be much low end power Only High RPMs that is why they say fro 351 need more cu. for them to work down low in the rpms

i think the 185's are mostly for blower applications or high hp engines. the 165's are better for n/a

i have the 165's on my car and it's been low 12's with them. low 11's with a 150 shot of juice.

I think 185's might be a bit much for an N/A 302.

Thanks for all the help guys. If i went with the 165cc what kind of cam should I be using? Also, how are the world Roush heads compared to the 165cc AFR's. I am trying to go mid-low 12s for the least amount of money. Thanks again for the help!

o ok, i see, that should get you 12's, what injectors are you gonna use? the d.s.s 306 promises 11's n/a i believe depending on setup, but also think they balance those motors, and strenghten them up.

well as far as injectors go, I'm trying to figure that out too. This is my first EFI buildup so I'm not sure which way I should go. I'm probably gonna have to run 19's for a short time until I get some new ones, but I don't know if I should get 24's or 30's.

Talking 3 wrods...HOLLEY SYSTEMAX KIT

Holley SysteMAX II kit $2100 well worth every penny, the head issues have been fixed. I did go 12.6 @ 108 with the full kit in my full weight 91GT.

Swapped cams to a AFM N-61 and lost a little weight going 11.90's. I went 114.9 on the stock EEC, still tuning on my Speedbrain for max power but all my 11 sec runs have been 112.9mph. My car is a 302ci stock internals, has 8.8:1 compression with the 63cc chambers and the thick ROL gaskets and fly cut pistons, with the 4:30's that the cam is ground for I am looking for 11.40's.

I also recently swapped to a 75mm TB and 30# inj since the 24# were going lean up top I had been running a 65mm TB and 24# inj.

Default all alum headed motors go 12's

hell any set of alum heads and a camshaft thats emissions leagl will go 12's

12.50's is the NORM around here for modified mustangs with 302's 12.30-12.50's for higher compression 306's and 11.70-12.0's for 351 and strokers in my part of the woods that all OUT THE BOX HEADS AND INTAKES

Get the afr 185's. They perform just as well as the 165's down low, but much better up top.
