Heater core - 70 Mach I

I need to replace the heater core in my 70 Mach I. Does anyone have experience with this? Does it require dash removal or can it be done from the engine bay? Thanks.

I'm running a 70 conv. As soon as I read heater core I started cringing! It has to be done from the inside, not through the engine bay. Do you have AC? I'm praying you dont, then it gets really messy. Are you sure it's your heater core? Make sure, you dont want to take the whole dash apart for nothing. If it is make sure you mark everything so you know how to put it back together. And you should replace everything while you in there so you dont have to do it again for a long time. Do the blower motor, the resistor, any of those vacum actuators that need it, you can also get a kit to replace all the worn out foam on the vent tubes and doors. It's a real pain in the butt, so don't rush it do it right and like I said you wont have to go back in there for some time. Hey as long as your taking the whole dash apart nows a good time to restore it. There are a few places that sell the dash paint and i really looks great. As long as you don't have a/c it's not that bad. I just did one in my 69 coupe. Remove the glove bow and other right side stuff and then the heater box will come right out.

glove box comes out. core cover has those pain in the arse clips that hold the cover on. ........ on the 1 to 10 scale, 2.

Thanks for the response guys. Unfotunately I do have A/C! I'm pretty sure it's the heater core. Anti-freeze drips out of a small stub tube outlet that is located about 2/3 down the firewall on the passenger side. It doesn't leak bad, but it's there all the time.
