![]() I'm gonna be rebuilding both mine and my friends rearends with new gears/bearings/seals/etc. I've heard you can add a couple extra clutches to the carrier, anyone have a link or info on how to do it? Also, can you buy the extra clutches seperate from jeg's/summit/etc.? Any info is appreciated.

![]() Just so you know, I'm talking about an 8.8 rear, not my vans rear- (the vans getting trashed/totaled out other than the motor/trans and I'm getting a notchback in a week or so with insurance $$$).

![]() What you do is remove one steel plate and add an extra friction plate. I have done it a few times and I've never had a problem. I can't remember the stacking order off the top of my head though. As far as an extra friction, I just use the best of the old ones. Make sure and soak all the frictions in oil for an hour or two before installing them too.

![]() yeah, what he said.
The order is just steel/clutch/steel/clutch/steel (not sure exactly how many, but that is the order) there is one a spot in the order on the factory way of doing it that has 2 steels back to back, and you simply don't do that. Just get the best of the old clutches and use it as your extra one I did this when I rebuilt mine and it works great.

![]() Dark, where did you find that carbon fiber kit? I've been looking and couldn't find it.
Do they offer it for the 31spline diff as well?

He has some on ebay! This is the same guy I bought them from. Email him he probably does have them for 31 spline.

![]() They will use the same kit for 28 or 31 spline, since the axle does not actually go through the clutches and steel plates.
