T-56 or other 6-speed swap in 65 Fastback
My car still has the old toploader 4-speed, 9-inch, and little rear tires. I want to biggie size that combo please! I am really interested in a T-56 swap! I've read up on it a bit but still have some questions. I was wondering if anyone was running that combo and where I can get the parts to make a 6-speed swap in my car.
Also does anyone know the difference between the Viper T-56 and the rest? What kinds of 6-speed will work with a Ford engine? If you are hoping to put in over 500 horsepower now or later, which tranny should you use? And are the $3000 blueprinted T-56's really all that they claim? Does anyone know about the Richmond 6-speeds? What other modifications can you do to a T-56 to make it handle power? Also, what kind of bellhousing or more preferebly a scattershield (I really think I need a scattershiled for safety) will work with a T-56 in a 65 Mustang with a 289? Will I be able to adapt a regular 289 to 4-speed scattershield to a 6-speed. Or will I just have to buy another when I make the swap? |

I am currently doing research on a Richmond 6 speed swap into my 66. I am making a custom hydraulic clutch setup (which is taking the most time). From what I have learned, the T-56 has an integrated bellhousing so you can't change it for a scattershield. There was an article in the Jan 97 Mustangs & Fords where they put a Richmond 6 speed in a 65. I would recommend either a cable clutch or hydraulic clutch conversion at the same time.
