Help with harmonic bal install
I am assembling a 1968 289 after a full rebuild/machining. When I press the harmonic balancer onto the crank, it "bottoms-out" about 3/16" before the end of the crank. That is, the end of the crank is recessed 3/16" from the inner face of the harmonic balancer where the washer sits. Is this correct or should the washer sit completely against the end of the crank??
thanks a million for any help... John |

Have you torqued it(the nut) down to see if it will slide back any further? I dont know what the spec on that should be, but if you use the nut to press it back, in theory it should go back to the correct depth.
Hope this helps, J
