Road Demon vs. Holley Avenger
Need to replace my Holley 4160 600 CFM with vacuum secondaries and electric choke. Considering either a Barry Grant Road Demon or a Holley Avenger. Both are 625-670 CFM and with vacuum secondaries. The Demon sells for $300 and the Holley for $360. I don't really worry about the money difference if there's anything to be gained. I'm very familiar with Holley's as they've been around forever. BG has an awesome reputation as well. I'm pretty sure either one would be good. Any experience or opinion would help me. Thanks.

I have always been a die-hard Holley man. I have never owned a Demon myself, but I know several people who do, and I've checked them out pretty thoroughly. They are a very well built carb. The Avenger doesn't have anything the Demon doesn't have, but the Demon has better quality parts (including dog-leg boosters, sight plugs that don't haze over, and billet metering blocks and baseplates). I'd go for the Demon.

Thanks PKRWUD, that's what I thought, but like you I've always liked Holleys. I think I'll get the Demon and give it a whirl.

I have been wanting a new carb myself. Looks like I will look into a DEMON. I need more like an 830 to 850 though. It doesnt have to have an electic choke or anything. Mainly just a race carb.

69fastback, look in the Summit online catalogue. I think you'll want a Race Demon. BG makes several versions of that . The Race Demons aren't cheap though, but I'll bet they're good.
