![]() I am fairly new to engine rebuilding... But I rebuilt my 289 in my stang.. I had to bore it 30 over.. i have been told it is now a 293 does that sound right? also I was wondering if you guys might have an estimate on horsepower for the engine being bored 30 over, and it running tri y headers, dual exhaust, 600 cfm carb, 270 cam, slightly stronger than stock valve springs, valve job was done, port and polished heads.. thats all of the infor i can think of now.

![]() Hi Joe, I will take a stab at this one. Your 289 bored .030 over should indeed be about a 293. With the combo you have described I would give you between 240 and 275 hp. It sounds to me like a good combo for your engine.

![]() My '66 with a 306 CID produces 300-310HP, depending whether you are using standard dyno conditions or SAE. With my C-4, rated at about 75% driveline effifiency, I get 223.3 SAE HP at the rear wheels (DynoJet). 223.5/.75=298 SAE HP. Add 4.5% to get standard dyno conditions and this is about 311 Hp. Look at my sig for my mods. I'd expect 1 HP/CI with your set up if it's tuned well and with good short block and head prep.
I had to do a lot of small stuff to get mine. Windage tray, crank scraper, Roller tip rockers, stub stack, home made cold air/ ram air system, under drive pulleys, optimizing fuel delivery and spark curve. Lots of trial and error here over a quite a while. I bet you can get 1 HP/CI if you work at it.
