Post Turbo Coupe Rear End

Does anyone have a Turbo coupe rear end that they want to sell? I need to either get a new axle, and a bunch of brake parts or get a turbo coupe rear end. A guy here has one, but he pulled the 3.73 gear and put in a 2.73!!! AHHHH!! Screw that. Also, does anyone know if I can take the disc brake calipers and everything off of the TC rear and bolt them onto my drum brake rear end? Anyway, if anyone has a TC rear, with either gear (3.55 or 3.73) and disc brakes (preferably one that hasn't been tampered with too much) I am interested!!! Please post or email.

The disc calipers won't fit on the stock rear. You could use some SSBC caliper brackets but the calipers won't just bolt up. You might check the Corral classifieds (sorry guys...they got more stuff). Leave a wanted ad. I almost bought some during a project a few years ago. I had a ton of people offer them to me.

You need the TC rear axles if you want to stick with the stock TC setup/dimensions and don't want to use the SSBC caliper brackets. I believe the SSBC brackets allow the use of Fox axles with the TC brakes, just position the calipers inboard a little to keep the same backspacing as stock Fox. The TC axles are longer due to the ABS ring so the calipers need to set out to compensate for this. The stock TC brackets account for this and position the caliper in the right place. As far as I know the TC 8.8 axle housing has the same dimensions as the Fox but the quad shock mounting holes are a little different. I'm not sure what dimensions the rear is in your car though. Seems like it would be wider, similar to the TC. Hope this rambling helps.

HERE'S ANOTHER IDEA, THE LINCOLN CONTINENTALS REARENDS (8.8) WITH DISC BRAKE 84-88 WILL WORK ALSO THERE ARE MORE OF THEM AROUND, ALSO THE DICS ARE LARGER 11 OR 11.2 INCH, THESE ARE THE SAME DISC PUT ON THE 84-86 SVO MUSTANGS BUT THEY ARE 5 LUG
THEN HALF OF YOUR 5-LUG CONVERSION IS OVER JUST BUY ROTORS FOR THE FRONT, PLUS WHEELS YOU WILL PROBABLY ONLY BE A FEW BUCK MORE THAN T/C REAR COMPLETE WHICH ARE HARD TO FIND AND ARE EXPENSIVE. GOOD LUCK

Thanks for noticing man, all I did was bump the timing to 12 degrees, got rid of my tailpipes in exchange for some 2.5 inch turndowns behind the flowmasters. And got better traction. My 60' times dropped way down, from 2.56 to 2.15 or so. They could still come down some with some slicks, but you know, I'm happier now with 14s. I figure with some gears, pulleys, headers, and slicks I might be able to hit a 13.99. But that's if I absolutely got the best run possible with that combo.
Anyway, about the TC rear end and the Lincoln Conti rear. I don't want 5 lug, I like the rims I have, and I found out that the TC rear is slightly narrower than my 8.8 inch cougar rear end. The axle housing is a good half inch narrower. But the axles are the same length. The TC has ABS sensors and weird things on the axles that look like a big gear. So I couldn't use the discs on my rear without major modification. It makes me wonder though what the difference is between the TC axle housing and the mustang axle housing since the stang axles are shorter than TC and Cougars. Wouldn't it be great to know everything. Thanks for the input guys.
