Default front brakes

I have an early '83 Mustang GL w/ 5.0. This thing was one of those special-orders with weird option combinations built in October '82. It needs an mc & front brake overhaul pretty badly, so I'm going to do the mc, calipers, pads and hoses. I do know from for '79-82 there was one style of front brakes for foxes and for '83-86 there was another. Are there any cues to tell me which system I have? Also, can I just bolt in '83-86 parts if I do indeed have the earlier ones? Or will that require a spindle change (like the '87-93 upgrade)?
