Ignition lock on tranny linkage on 4-speed Mustang
Greetings,
I'm hoping someone here can help. I have a 72 Mach 1 and it has a mechanism that requires the tranny (4 speed) to be in reverse to turn the key to the off position. This part is around the steering column in the engine compartment, and it is very difficult to move this by hand. I unhooked the linkage to assure it wasn't the shifter. It just happened suddenly and I wasn't driving.?? Can anyone tell me about this, what may be wrong, and how difficult it is going to be to fix this? I haven't worked with the steering column before. Any inputs will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jeff~ |

Neutral start switch?
It must be the neutral start switch that requires the tranny to be in neutral (and usually the clutch in) before the car will crank It should be a matter of adjustment, I would think.
