![]() Hey everyone. I have a questiong for you all! I just got my 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 and its kinda a project car that needs fixing up. But my question is about the seatbelts. In my two other cars, which are brand new, whenever i pull on the seatbelts really hard, they catch. Well in the mustang, when i pull on them really hard and quick, they don't. Neither the driver or passanger side. I asked my mechanic about this, and he said either 1. They are shot, 2. They might only work on impact (but i have no way to test that) 3. they work with the brake. So anyone who knows anything about this, please help me out!!!

![]() There is a very easy way to test if they work. ok. You might want to get a pen and paper and write this down.
1. Sit down in car 2. Buckle seat belt 3. Drive down the road at 55mph 4. Find and hit the nearest full size tree 5. If you live, then there ya go. Seatbelt must have worked. OK. Now dont try that one. I wouldnt have any idea on how to check that. Good luck though. ------------------ 347 Stroker Motor: Balanced, A9P Computer, Cobra Transmission, Extrude Ported and Polished Upper and ported Lower, GT40 Milled Ported and Polished Heads, B303 Cam, BBK 1 5/8 Headers, 30lb Bosch Injectors, Holley Fuel Regulator, March Underdrive Pulleys, Perma-Cool Fan, 3-Core Radiator, Accel Performance Coil, Accel 300+ Racing Wires, Ram Air, K&N Filter, 79mm Mass Air Unit, FlowMaster Exhaust w/BBK Offroad H-Pipe, Hurst Short Throw Shifter, 3:55 Gears, Ram Clutch, Cross Drilled Rotors |

![]() here's a way to find out if they work
come to a stop somewhere where there are no cops go HARD thru 1st gear and shift hard to second, make sure u floor it coming into 2nd, and then try to lean forward. the force of the car lurching from the 1st->2nd shift should activate the catch on the belts...it does on my 91GT ------------------ SHaFTed 91GT, Flows, 70MM BBK TB, K&N, Hurst short throw, T5, 17" Lexani Roma, 235/40/R17 on front, 255/45/R17 on back, mach1 hood, LX tail lights, bright red! |
