more questions for straight six
Im wanting to install a somewhere between a 67-69 v-8 bellhousing and 3-speed synchro. transmission behind a '64 170-6cylinder engine. I know 66' 200 will fit, but will a 64' 170 bolt pattern work also.
Thanks Last edited by daccrow86; 09-22-2003 at 10:07 AM.. |

A V8 bellhousing will not bolt up to a 170 or 200. Starting in 1967, Ford began using the V8 3-spd behind the 200. The block was changed in '66 to allow use for a different bellhousing to be able to mount the V8 3-spd behind the 200. This bell will not bolt up to any block previous to '66, so if will not work on your '64 170. Here is a pic comparing the 60-65 vs. the '66 and later 170/200 blocks
If you want to install the V8 3-spd behind the '64 170, then you need to use the stock 170 bell and this adapter http://www.inlinepages.com/drivetrai...tml#2.77to3.03 Any other info regarding the swap is available here: http://www.inlinepages.com/drivetrai...ml#144/170/200 Al |
