![]() Here is what I promised a while back about a kit for a classic stang. U can now bolt in a T-56 Tranny in your classic mustang, cougar, falcon, and comet.
This is posible from JMC Motorsports. It requires minimal mods that can be done in your driveway! ![]() Here's your source: JMC MOTORSPORTS Dept. MF 2277 National Ave. San Diego, CA 92113 (619)230-8866 (619)230-8824 fax www.johnsmustang.com Found in Mustangs & Fords magazine Sep 02 If u don't, or can't get the mag, please post, and I can type in the whole mag articule in here for ya, along with all the other parts used.

![]() Keep in mind that they put that in a 67. The trans tunnel mods for a 65-66 would be more extensive.
Also, the T-56 has some major drawbacks. If anyone is interested in the drawbacks post here and I'll let you know. |

![]() This is the first I have heard someone say the T56 has major drawbacks. Other than size and cost. What are these drawbacks you speak of?

![]() GP001,
So what if you decide you want to run some crazy gears like 4.56 or 4.33s??? I've discussed the benefits of the Richmond ROD w/ you before, and trust me you sold me on it. But I've been wondering about the overdrive ratio and gears. Basically I want the gears and tranny that will help me out most with the track and strip, but then when I hit the highway (I live in LA), I want to save rpms and...ahem...as little gas as you can save with a stroker 289. So I'm not sure what combo Ill get yet, but i'll go radical with the gears if it'll hep me accelerate, as long as the tranny will offset the lost streetability/cruisability. What is the lowest rpm a car cruising from 65-80 (mostly 80 in LA in non-rush-hour) in sixth should live at? What is the lowest ratio offered for the Richmond? What rpm with the 4.33 and 4.56 gears would the engine see on the highway?? Thanks DJ |

![]() DJ,
The final overdrive ratio in the Richmond is similar to the final overdrive ratio in the T-56, the only difference is that the Richmond has 5 actual gears to use keeping the ratios closer. The T-56 has final overdrive options of .62, or .50. The Richmond has .76, .62, .50, and some other custom order ones. With my .76 6th, 245/45-17 tires, & 3.5 rear I run 86@3000 RPM & 101@3500 RPM, but keep in mind I don't have to run a real low rear gear because I have a 3.28 1st gear ratio As to where an engine likes to live, that will depend on your cam & engine specs
