Default nine inch rear end question..

Since I've been out of the loop for 20 years. I would like to make my 70 Mach I a positraction. In my drag racing days I had 31 spline axles and a mini spool which was GREAT for racing only. Can you still buy the parts to change the current 9" to a pos unit. If not, where can you buy the posi traction unit.

THanks! Ronnie

Personally, I would go with a Detroit Locker, insted of a posi unit.

They make a little noise around the turns but you will not tear one up. The locker is clutchless and won't need to be rebuilt.

You can buy anything for a 9inch these days.

Detroit Locker is probably the most expensive one. There are less expensive alternatives that operate the same.

Best thing is, you can install the thing yourself.

Frank.

9 inch is still really popular, you should be able to find lots of stuff for it. I know Mustangs plus sells detroit lockers and posi units for the 9 inch, but I think I would check Summit and Jegs first.

I bought a Strange Traction Lock. Looks just like the Ford unit. This was a few years ago. IIRC it was about $350.00 RAY

Default Thanks Ray, beautiful car, but then you know that!

Thanks again! I've got two 70's, one a driver and another that has been sitting outside for 16 years with 21 bullit holes in one side, guess what I've named it? ha!
