Major Delima Here Please Help!
I bought a 71 fastback on ebay a little over a year ago and it was a big time rust bucket, no motor, no trans. The cowl, 1/4's, floor pans, door bottoms, tail lamp panel, shock towers, door striker area etc. etc. rusted. I started replacing some of this and was waiting on a cowl to be cut out for me and i'll be dambed if my wife didn't find me a 72 coupe for free if we went to get it...........100 miles. Well we got it expecting to use the cowl etc for parts but this thing is in imaculate shape! No floor pan rust, cowl fine, 351 c half tore apart, the rest of the parts in the not rusted trunk. The only rust I find is very minor in tail lamp panel and 2 small bubbles behind wheel wells. I want a fastback. What do you all think about cutting the top off my rustang and putting it on a clean california coupe? By the way, I have a title for the fastback and none for the coupe............but I still have the orig. vin plate out of the fastback and a whole ass load of great fastbak parts. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Major Delima Here Please Help!
I always thought that would be a great idea for the aftermarket, coupe to fastback conversion kits. I believe though when you go cutting that large of a section out, you take alot of the support for the car with it, which welding might not be strong enough for. I figure this from the 69 camaro reproduction bodys, as there is a piece of sheetmetal that only comes in that due to the fact if somebody at home tried to replace just that piece it would probably turn south on them in a hurry. (I believe it was some piece of sheetmetal by the rear seat) The only way i could see it happening is if you left everything but the rear quarters and window channel, though im sure that could/would turn into a hack job real quick. (unless your a pro) Do as you will, im sure its been done before, as i have seen just the fastback part being sold on ebay for a 65 once.
