Question Mallory ignition system

I am using a series 47 Mallory distributer. I have a # 208 distributer cap, which calls for a # 305 rotor. I have gone through 3 rotors. All three were defective from the factory. I talked to a tech from Mallory who admitted that they had produced a bad batch of the 305 rotors. I explained to him that I had about $50.00 Invested in these defective rotors and asked him if Mallory could send me a rotor. They sent me 2, and they looked exactly like the ones that didn,t work. I called the tech at Mallory again and he told me I had to file the comtact on the rotor and then bend it, etc...etc.. I can,t believe they are still sending out this defective piece. Has this problem happened to anyone else? and if so how did you fix the rotor?

Default Mallory problems

Well, I just returned my 2 month old Mallory HyFIRE VI-AL ignition box. Couldn't believe it failed after only two months. My Unilite distributor module failed after only 18,000 miles for the first one. I'm personally not to hot on Mallory right now for obvious reasons.

Default MSD

That's certainly what I would do if I was doing it over again.

Rev-
Sorry to hear about your recent misfortune, but as we've discussed before, I'm not really surprised. Maybe in the future we should refer to such failures as the Super Shops Curse.

Take care,
~Chris

Default Good after bad

Yes, PKRWUD, I was an idiot for throwing good money after bad. Let's see now if they'll even stand behind the warranty. I did cut a notch in the case to mount it where I wanted it. They could technically void the warranty for that (you can't modify the part). We'll see.

Whoa! I wasn't saying that at all. I would never say that about you, unless you also bought an Erson cam (LOL)

Take care,

Default It was me

It was me saying that. I'm the one saying I was dumb to buy the ignition box from Mallory after I had some negative experience with the Unilite distributor. Everyone else has been very polite about my idiocy,

Default Ignition system

Thanks to all that replyed to my problems with Mallory. I,m tired and frustrated to the point where I,ve got to move on to a complete MSD system. I have a 302 bored 35 over, a292 comp cam, hooker headers, Edelbrock 600 carb. Never had it down the strip or even a dyno test. Maybe I can do this after I install the new MSD equipment. Does anyone have any suggestions on what distributer, coil, box etc. might work best for me?

I have a MSD Ignition with a Mallory distributor... I've only put about 500 miles on it and no problem at all.... could it be the reason why my rpm tach doesn't work though? I think maybe the shop fried it... They checked all 3 wires going to the tach and it came out fine. I've installed a after-market tach but I don't have it hooked up yet so I have to see if it works with it. Could the distributor or even igntion cause a conflict with the tach?
