more c4 ?'s
when i bought my mustang i found that the engine was an 85 block so im guessing the tranny may have ben changed as well.
Im pretty sure its a c4 though but id like to know the year. can anyone tell me where i can find the code on the tranny? also what should i set the bands to? Right now there at stock settings according to my shop manual. 1 1/2 turns i think it was. if its the orignal trans it has about 80,000 miles on it. Also i think im getting a lot of tranny slip from somewhere. When im on the freeway and at 5,000 rpm im going about 80-85 but i have 2.80 gears so shouldnt i go a lot faster at that rpm? What could be causing the slip and would it be related to the bands? Also exactly does the kickdown lever do? when i set it to go about half throttle it wont downshift but i get a lot more power and throttle response and i thought it just tightend the bands? sorry im making this so long. thanks for anyones help Brandyn

3 rd gear clutches?
Mine only slipped in 3 rd when I did a WOT 2-3 shift. No amount of band adjustment made any difference. For me it was that the high gear clutches were fried. Once that was fixed (rebuild), all that stopped. A shift kit helps here too, but only after the rebuild.

Band isn't going to affect the highway speed. The band you are adjusting is for 2nd gear.

ok then if not that then why am i going so slow in 3rd at 5000rpm?
someone told me that was tranny slip but i dont know now. i mean 80mph with 2.80's? shouldnt i go way faster. I might as well have 4.11's that would be nice.
