![]() This is my first post on this website, I used to post under Wacki001 but dont remember how to get username to work again. You guys helped me with a flame throwing diliema and I thank you for that. But as my taxes come back I have a new one, what to do with my money.
My car has the following setup, 1969 Boss 302 (new but have no clue on internals, just that it is an SS package from the company and they said it was with a mild cam and set to run a supercharger) it cost @3000.00. On that I put an Eldelbrock Proformer RPM manifold A Holley 600 carb Msd ignition with rev limiter Taylor wires K and N high flow air filter The transmission is the Stock C-4 with the B&M shift kit as well as the heavy duty rebuild kit. It has been rebuilt as well this summer. The exhaust is dual Gt with older Headers, but has no leaks. The mufflers are Rapter(sp?) I have Mag 500 wheels with 195 on the front and 205 on the back as well as Traction bars. I put a fuel cell in the back(10 gal) and also but the battery in a sealed container in the back. I have a cheater NOS 100 shot system that I rarely use but it is still hooked on. My Question is with my car what would make her Scream, I am still learning the tricks but I have 800.00 to invest in her, and dont want to waste my time or money. The car is restored and only needs the speed to back up her good looks. Thank you in advance for helping me with my question, Brock. |

![]() I'm a little confused on what you have. You say it's a 69 boss 302, new, with the SS package?????????????? What company did you buy it from. Anyway, new heads are always a good investment. Which ones are up to you. There are endless debates on which ones are the best and you could spend anywhere from 500 to a couple thousnad dollars. Do some research and search the thousands of previous posts in this forum and the Windsor forum. Good luck

![]() I agree, you are a little confusing. Is it a Boss 302?? And what is a SS?? Only one I know is built by Cheby.
Bang for the buck are always heads. But if it is a Boss, then it is already breathing pretty good. Then I would go for a rear change. That always wakes up a car when you put 3.90's or 4.10's.

![]() The SS package I am guessing was just the term the place gave to the upgade for the block. I got it out of Virginia but the info was lost. There is a lope but it is very weak. The place where I got the engine had like 4 proformance packages, The first was a stock 302 then there was the SS package and then the prices jumped to like 5000.00 and higher. I am sorry but all I know is I got the bargin horsepower one. Thanks Brock

![]() Don't mean to step on anyones toes here, but are you quite sure it is a boss 302 engine? (Sorry if you know all this) The boss block and heads are of course unique and you would be limited on choices here. The reason I ask is that you say edelbrock performer rpm and the cost was 3K. I don't think edelbrock makes an intake for the boss 302, nor do I think 3K is likely for the boss motor. Now perhaps the engine company was selling this standard 302 as a boss package or something. Anyway, if you have a boss 302 I would look for gears, since the boss wants to rev a bunch. If you have a standard 302, gears would still be high on my list. You have taken care of intake and exhaust, engine is in good shape with mild cam, so I would be looking at heads too.

![]() Good question, I am in sorry shape when it comes to knowlege. If you guys know where I could look for the code on the engine, I'll get that. I just learned how to read the axle code last night. I always do stuff by trial and error.(I blew a 73 302 that way). But if its not a Boss I will get some money back because that what they sold it to me as. Who knows they may have pulled one over on me. Brock
