New engine for my 67 mustang
alright first off i own a 1967 3 speed inline 6 mustang...yeh i know what ur thinking...disgrace to the musclecar era..however wait i did not buy this car in vain..i plan to put a t-5 manual tranny and a 351 windsor motor (w/many intake/internal upgrades))...will all this work together? thanks to whoever answers this question because i dont know anyting about the ford applications and right now am on a hope and a prayer that the shit that i bought on ebay will all work without TOO much work being done..oh yeah please tell exactly what i would have to do TO MAKE IT work
thanks

Any ford small block will fit, you can cram a big block in a 67 but it"s tight. Shelby put a 428 in the GT 500's I'm not sure about the tranny but I don't see why it wouldn"t

wow this is a lotta work
alright..to those other folks wanting to do a inline 6 to 350 or bigger engineconversion..dont..just dont...go buy a shitty v-8 and do what you need to with it..i just found out that im gonna have to replace the whole rear end, front end, driveshafts, all motor mounts, steering column and structure, the tranny(even tho i was already gonna) and some type of hood conversion/replacement. for the motor sits too high with the dual plane edelbrock intake that i have...
yeah im pretty shit outta luck..but hopefully itll all come together..just warning..that nobody should try to follow my path cuz itll lead u astray

I am going to be going from a 6cly to a 8 too, and from what i have read/heard, you dont need to swap everything out at once. Also, the hood thing would make no sense, it would have been too much work for FoMoCo. What I am thinking about doing, is just putting a 302 in there, and then when something breaks, replace it! I was also told its a good idea just to get a donor vehicle.

Bmxmon has the right idea. But when you drop in that 302, you will need the right motor mounts. And, You should go with heavier springs up front. They're not that much. Next, with all that new found power, make sure you can stop the thing! Front disc brake are a nice upgrade. You'll probably have to shorten the driveshaft. But, you can just have the old one cut. Then worry about the rear end when you get a chance.
Hey lets face it early stangs are not as easy to come by as they used to be. In decent condition, with a V8 they do catch a good price. If you've got a place to work and if.....this is a big if.... if the 66's body is in good or better condition then go for it. If it is a rust bucket or needs to much structurel work find another project car and use that one for parts. Good luck!

Hey everyone I dont think that just because a mustang has a inline6 it is a disgrace to the muscle car era. I have a inline 6 sprint and dont think its too bad. I actually like my lil six I have restored it back to the original condition and it is a very nice car. Although when I too bought my caar I had plans of chaning it to a 351C but also found out what all had to be changed and was disappointed. But if you are still going to change it to a 351W and a T-5 yes it will work. you may have to do some minor changes but it will work thats what they did in some of the later model like late 80's mustangs. So yea dont worry about that.
