New guy saying hello w/ pix
First post, thought I'd give a lil' intro.
Blue on blue 66' coupe, 289, 3 speed auto, all original, numbers matching, daily driver, second owner. I should clarify. I "have" all the original parts. Planing a few mods. Got the Moons, nixed the smog stuff. Got an eldelbrock performer carb/manifold combo ready to go as soon as I get the time, exhaust and headers when get a bit more scratch. The car was bought by my Grams in 66' off the floor. I still have the window sticker. $2634.00! I could spend that tomorrow and not get out of the engine bay. Looking forward to chating with ya'll. Here's a few pix. Moonstang This is what it looked like when I got it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...DirtyMotor.jpg Here's where I'm at so far http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v505/surly1/my289.jpg My first Moon Eyes. I'd like to lose the white walls and lower the car a touch. All in good time. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...1/DSC00107.jpg All I need is the linkage kits. Stupid auto trans. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...1/DSC00110.jpg Thanx for your time. |

Re: New guy saying hello w/ pix
Does your wife let you bring car parts in the house too? (Manifold pic) If so keep her, they are rare! I once heard a story of my grandpa rebuilding a auto trans. in the bathtub at his house..........grandma didnt like it but put up with it. My wife is the same way though...................(kinda funny after I think of my 2 previous ex's.......) BTW, That looks like a great car to start with there........well maintained.

Re: New guy saying hello w/ pix
btw, work od advice, when u install the new manifold, ald get a new coil wire and relocate it to the fenderwell. I never did understand why it was mounted there, but those things hate engine heat and ur car will run better when it's mounted a little farther away.

Re: New guy saying hello w/ pix
Thanx for the comments.
No wife. But I'd like to think if I had one she'd be cool with it. I broke up with my last girlfriend because she wouldn't let me watch the F1 races live in bed. A few years ago I built an Aermacchi 350 in my living room. Used the dish washer as a degreaser and the oven for baking the powder coating that I did myself. (I sprayed outside though) The fun part was getting it down two flights of stairs when it was finished. I have a huge basement but it's so much nicer to work in front of the TV. I'm hip to moving the coil. I too could never figure out why they put it there. Thanx again moonstang |

Moon,
Take good care of that original window invoice, they are a rare item to have on a collector car. I've heard it ups the value of the car. |
Re: New guy saying hello w/ pix
The '66 coupe is my favorite (obviously). Keep up the improvements to make it "just the way you want it". Don't worry too much about originality. Make it so that it looks and drives the way you think Ford should have done it from the factory. A tleast that's the way I see it. Looks like you have done well so far.

Re: New guy saying hello w/ pix
Nice looking car but I would do white raise letter instead of white wall more muscle looking. If you have the 14" rims I would go with 215-60-14 bfg Radial t/a's they fit perfect in there. I have that on my 66.
