The cars built between March through August 17,1964 are known to most in the hobby as 64 1/2's. When it comes to the actual vehicle registration of these cars, they are registered as 1965's

[ My car no back up lights (another 64 1/2 only feature),]

[/b][/QUOTE]
The back up lights were an 'option' on the 64-65 cars {A seventeen dollar value} Just as the rear seat belts. Mine is a 65 coupe (production date is May 5th 1965 ) its original an has NO back up lights, passenger side mirror, or emerg. flashers ( this is all standard for 66) But I do have rear seat belts (dated 1964).a option also was the day/nite mirror.

Actually, I believe that backup lamps were an option in 65 also. I knew a guy that had a concours correct 65 and it did not have the backup lamps. They were standard equipment in 66 though.

Ops sorry about the back up light issue there. I had forgot they didnt become standard till 66. I dont think back up lights were even optional on 64 1/2s , or were they?
Isnt there also diffrences in the break light swith on the master cylinger?

Engine colors also, werent all blocks black in 64, but blue in 65, I cant remember. Its been a long while since I read my stuff. I'm getting a few cobwebs up there.

Yup there is a difference at the master cyl. =64 1/2 ( & some EARLY 65) the break light switch is on the master cyl. .While later they moved to the break ped. inside the car. AH YES ye ol' paint thing{ man I get ths one all the time on my car} The paint for '65 is black & gold it's the only year it was done. Now with that; the 6 cyl. was painted red in '64 the blue came later in '66 . the 260 in '65 wasblack or blue depending on what factory did the car eng.. OK... Now the 289 in the 64 1/2 & 65 were black. ~~~~~~ hey ~~~~ there not cobwebs, it's just great info that ya havent used in a while http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif
