Angry Anyone have this idle problem?

When my car gets to about the R in NORMAL range, the engine has a hard time idling. I'll turn it on, the RPMS will shoot up to 1800 then back down then back up and then it swings down, but before the RPMS come back up again it stalls. Only remedy to keep my car on is to rev it high about 2 times, then the RPMs will drop normally to idle without doing the "seesaw" effect. Jeez, its like 1 problem after another with this car..

No Codes? Do a KOEO and KOER test.
Then give the codes, if any.

You don't need a tester for the 94 EEC IV computer. You just need to find the diagnostic adatper located behind the front passenger side fender. Remove the cover. You will then have 2 connectors. My secondary is grey, and the main one is black.

Connect the pins as shown with a jumper wire (make sure the car is off). I made my jumper wire from solid copper wire and modified some forked connectors to fit nicely in the pins.

Now, with the jumper wire connecting the 2 pins as shown, get in the car and turn it to "on". Do not start the car.

The fan should rev up and then your check engine light will flash. the code 123 will flash as: flash (2 second pause), flash flash (2 second pause), flash flash flash.

Record all the codes. A code 111 means everything is OK and is also used as a seporator code.

Once the car stops flashing codes you are done. That was a KOEO test (Key On, Engine Off).

Now you have to do the KOER test. Connect the jumper wire, and start the car, Let it idle on its own. It should idle up for a minute and then idle down. It will then start flsahing codes like the first test.

You can repeat the tests often to make sure you have all the codes. Write them down in order that you see them and post them here.

Or, if you want you can buy a code reader. I didn't as I want to but as much money in the car as possible to make it go fast .
