Default overheating 1966 mustang

I have a 6 cylinder mustang with air conditioner. I want to know how to keep it from overheating while idleing at a stop light.

Factory air conditioner. Not much room between the pulley's and the air conditioner to put much twist on it.

any ideas on how to fix this?

Dan

Bigger Radiator, better fan, lower thermostat, water wetter.

Check: timing, coolant mixture, idle speed.

Take care, Frank

are you running the right coolant/water mixture? make sure your radiator hoses arent too long. i have a problem with overheating at stop lights because the hoses were too long and because of the extra lenth it made the hose kink so that it restriced flow.

check your hoses, coolant mix, waterpump, and make sure all you hose clamps are tight because if they are not sealed all the way you could be sucking in air with it causing the anitfreeze to bubble and create excess pressuse making your radiator push a lot of water out of the overflow hose.

Do you have any sort of shroud on the radiator, making the fan pull all of its air through the radiator than from behind it? Not stock, but worth considering.

This would be in addition to all the other items listed in other posts.
