Question What carb and distributor for 289?

My neighbor has a 10.5 to 1, .060 over 289 in his '65 coupe. It has C.I aftermarket heads, 284 hyd. cam, F.M. Hi-rise dual plane intake with carb spacer topped off with a 650 v.s. Speed Demon carb.

No matter what I do to the carb, It is still very rich. My Mopar friends have the same problems with the Demon. I haven't drilled the thr. plates and I'm not going too. The idle circuit air vents are installed. I talked him into a Holley but I thought I would ask you what you run on a comparable Ford s.b. He shifts at 6800 rpm.

He also runs a recurved Duraspark distributor with Crane HI-6 ignition. Should he pitch the Duraspark or is it durable?

Any and all help is appreciated!
