Default pain in the rear end...

i just recently got my motor overhauled and had a little umph put into it..i picked out my own power package which is going to be promissing when i get it broken in...im not gonna see what she's got until i put the first 500 on her and let her break in..but anyways its more of a top end motorand as you all know mustangs have aeroplane gears in them. i want to put a higher rear end in it but i cant read my id plate on the rear end...i know its stock, but still have no clue what size the ring set is..does anyone know what the stock size of a 67 rear end is?

There were severl different differential gears offered, and not really a standard. Typical of the small block was a 2.80 but there were so many combinations in those days it could be about anything from 2.80 to 4.30. If you still have the door ID plate, post to code for the axle here and I am sure someone will have it.

Default 8"

Pretty sure it's an 8". The Shelbys had 9" rears I think. I do have a book that tells the ratio if you can get the code off the door plate.

If you cannot read the plate. While the car is jacked up (off the ground) mark the drive shaft and mark a tire. Rotate and count how many times the shaft turns to the tire. This is very rough, but will give a general idea.

He wants to know whay size rear end he has in it, like a 8" 8.8" or 9".

There should be a tag in the door, on the drivers side.

If your trying to determin if its 8" or 9"(8.8) was not yet out there) easiest way is try to put on a 9/16 deep socket on the two bottom bolts on the carrier. if the deep sockect fits, then it a 8". you will need a wrench to get these with a nine.
