Optimal Shift points
Shift points on a 90 gt almost stock..off road h-pipe, flows, advance timing, no gears,air filter

Depends on where it stops pulling, depends on the car...probably ball park 5200ish, but every car is different...

A dyno is a really good way to help you figure out where to shift But, 5200 sounds good to me. Maybe even 5300.

When my LX was modded to the level your car is at, it actually slowed down if I shifted higher than 5,300 rpm - slowed down by more than a tenth when I shifted at 5,600

If the car's powerband is basically the same as the stock power curve then try and find a dyno test of the stock 5 litre powerplant (better yet go visit a chasis dyno) then take the data sheet and visit

I've got a discussion on shift points on my website including some graphical demonstrations. It can really help you decipher what's going on. To really do it effectively though you need to do a Max says and visit the dyno. There is really no way to wisely choose it without knowing the HP/TQ trends of your car. In fact, one shift point really isn't enough. You need different shift points for each gear to really get the most out of your car. Most of us are limited to single shift lites, unless you've bought one of the more expensive tachometer/lite combinations.
