Post 351w help

Hello all, I was driving my car yesterday when all of a sudden my engine died when I came to a light. I started it back up but could only keep it running with about 3/4 to full throttle. Any less and the engine dies. It was working fine before this. I was able to drive the car a little bit, at about 5mph max in first gear and full throttle but then came to a hill just before my house and the car wasn't able to make it so I had to tow it the rest of the way. I noticed the car started getting hot as I was trying to drive it. I am still able to start the motor but still need almost full throttle just to keep it running. Any ideas on my *new* problem would be appreciated.

Sounds an awful lot like a plugged fuel filter.

My fuel filter was full but I'll look into it more to make sure that fuels is getting all the way to the carb

Does it matter if the car is cold or Hot? If it runs fine cold it could be a vaper lock. Try opening the gas cap.

Good Luck

Brock,
Another thing to look at is a vacuum leak. Your vacuum is at it's highest at idle and drops at higher speeds, after checking the fuel filter and for vacuum leaks, look at the carb for your problem it sounds fuel related to me.

it sounds like it may have jumped time, how many miles?ever been rebuilt? bring the motor to tdc and pull the dist cap and see where the rotor is pointing,if way before or after the terminal for #1 plug wire,it jumped time.

I have had similar problems on a car with a catatletic converter. They plug up over time and severly reduce pawer.
