How much is a 1965 mustang worth?

What would you offer someone for a 1965 mustang, if all you knew about it was the year of the car and that the body and the interior were i fair shape. You dont know what engine th car has or that it even runs. Thats all the info you have, what would be a fair price to offer someone.

$50 :D :D :D

Maybe $1000.

My neighbor just sold a beautiful 65 with original pony interior, great body and paint, ran like a champ (200ci), for $4k

With only that information, I would have to assume a worst case scenario. A fair body to me means it may have rust in the floor pans, cowl area, body parts (maybe even frame rails). I would assume an IL6, 3 speed manual, 7 1/2" rear axle and 4 lug wheels. I would have to assume that the engine isn't running and is not even rebuildable. I personally would not not buy the car at any price as it may cost more to fix it than it would be worth. That's my take on it anyway.

My best with ONLY that info and it being a California car is in the range of $250.oo ta $500.oo That way at least you can make it a parts car.

Glass?

Yes, if it had glass, it might be worth that much.

What if it had a 289 in it that ran, and that it had great paint, and only a few minor problems with the rest of the car.

Another ball of wax

Now that's a whole 'nother ball of wax. I doubt that anyone would feel confident in putting a dollar value on it without a thorough inspection though.

Of course if it had matching #'s it would be worth more too. But with just that info.... I would say 500 to a 1,000 would be a fair price!

zepherman 08-12-2002 01:01 AM

by matching #s what do you mean? I have seen people put 2+2 in thier discriptions, is that what your talking about? I dont know what that means. I dont know much about early mustangs.:)

PKRWUD 08-12-2002 03:33 AM

Matching numbers means that all the parts, from the engine to the body, are original, and can be documented. Part numbers and date codes make this fairly easy.

2+2 usually means a car with a back seat.

Take care,
~Chris

2+2 is the name for a the fast back ( its found on the front quarter panal next to the pony badge)

I think you would be safe offering something between $200 to $30,000. More info needed for a more specific estimate.
