car wont start
 

I recently purchased a 67 ford mustang. It has had electrical problems since day two. Now my car is having problems starting. Someone told me it was the starter and cylinoid so I replaced them. That didn't work at first but I eventually got it started. Then it made a loud buzzing noise so I turned it off. I tried to start it again but all the cylinoid would do is make a clicking sound. I believe my wiring could be bad...or at least that's what evryone has told me. If you have any idea what my problem is please let me know. thanks.

i changes ther starter, and selenoid, and battery
but i cant remember what exactly it was
o and it did work after i changed them

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I replaced the solenoid. It worked for awhile then it started clicking like you said. The solenoid has a plunger in it & it can go bad & act like that. I took the solenoid back & got another. It still works fine.
I just replaced the solenoid in my F150 too. If you turn the key & get no sound, it's usually the solenoid.

i had the same problem. till i changed the starter. change your starter and that should make it work.sometimes the cylinoid has a metal bracket inside which gets stuck too, tap on it with a hammer, and then try to start it. if that does not work beat it with the hammer, and try again.

And if that doesn't work, get a really big hammer and go to town on it. Then try it again.

I vote for bad battery or bad electrical connections. Your new solenoid is making a buzzing sound which is indictive of low voltage. If the battery checks out good I would have someone do some testing of the electrical connections. Also be sure to check your grounding strap between the motor and frame. It could be loose causing gremlins.

I personaly like the hammer idea. heck if it dont work after 3 or 4 sessions you will be forced to get a new on, but heck you got to beat it with a hammer first!

The solenoid only cost me 8 bucks & if it doesn't work you can take it back.

Definitely a battery/battery cable issue and possibly the charging system, since it does not appear the battery is holding a charge. Check the battery cables for any damage at the terminals, then have your battery tested. That clicking and humming sound is (and I think it was mentioned before) is the sign of low voltage.
