Hologen Headlights
I installed hologen headlights on my '65 stang. Now my question is will the hologens damage my original headlight switch from 1965, or worst yet, start a fire?

I never thought about that... Hmm. I put those Sylvania SilverStar lights in mine recently. Lightning is GREAT, but I wonder about the damage aspect. Anyone know?

I've heard of the original headlight switches catching fire because of halogen lights. If I were you I'd install a relay. It's a relatively simple process, and it can save you a lot of trouble and money.

Installed Halogen bulbs on my 68 about 6 weeks ago and it fried the headlight switch. I also know of 2 individuals where it did start a fire. Both were able to extinguish it before any major damage occurred but they still had a mess to clean up and 1 of the individuals had to buy a new wiring harness. Either install the relay or go with original bulbs. I went with the original bulbs (won't be driving it that much at night anyway).

Thanks for the help, and kisner....I would go with regular bulbs but no one in my sleepy town sells them, I would have to order them online and wait a week for them. And driving home from work at 8:00 at night with a blown out head light is not a good thing...:D

You're right. Found out when I went looking that nobody carries them anymore. Mustangs Unlimited, National Parts Depot, and most of the other mail order companies have them cheap (I paid about $3.50 each). Unfortunately, you get stuck with around $6.50 shipping and handling.
