Need outside mirror for '66
Got a mirror for the passenger side from CJ Pony Parts, Harrisburg, PA, and it doesn't fit right. It's the only one in their catalog, so they are not at fault (like for sending me the wrong one from their stock) Am looking for another. Anyone?

Year One mustang catalogue has one they say fits 1965/1966 either side. Part# FJ1612

still looking...
The ones on eBay are just like the one I got from CJ's. Year One doesn't have a pic of theirs. I'm gonna get some measurements off the driver's side one on my car and get back to you. The primary problem is that the holes on the new model don't match up to the holes on the door already, and the screws aren't long enough. I know these seem like easy things to overcome, but one person who looked it over so far says they don't think it'll fit right, even if new holes are drilled into the door.

measurements
Let's see how I can make this description clearer than mud ;)
The "plastic" plate that goes on the car below the mirror is the same size on both the old model and new. But the metal plate that goes between the mirror and the plastic is considerably different, as is the mirror base and shape itself. The metal base currently resting on top of the plastic has slits that you can adjust where you put the screws. The actual holes are drilled in at 3 1/4 inch distance from each other. The new model has the holes much farther apart, also the mirror itself is much bigger. Someone suggested I try junkyards, and then said "good luck!" as if it'd be wasted effort. I don't mind paying money for new, but I want it to fit. |
Good news
Looked everything over myself (should've done that from the start), and believe I've found the way around the problem. Still doesn't match the other mirror - will just replace that one some time.
