Ford Crate Motors

Anyone hear good or bad about the Ford Racing 302 long blocks (M-6007-XB) I'm thinking of putting one in a 67 with a "strongly" rebuilt C-4 and a 9" rear. The things that I have heard are you need to get a new 50 oz flex plate, change the front cover and water pump with the old one, add an esentric for the mechanical fuel pump, and replace the gear on the end of the distribitor with a steel one. I'm also planing on using my Performer intake and Edelbraock Carb.

I have the M-6007-XE3 FR long block and I'm now very pleased with it. I hate to say it, but it took me a year to get it dialed in correctly. However, once I degreed the cam in right, fixed a nagging vaccum leak and dyno tuned the carb and timing, it really runs great.

The things I was able to keep were:
· Oil pan
· Oil pump
· Timing cover
· Fuel eccentric
· Fuel pump

The thing I had to change:
· Flex plate
· Balancer
· Distributor MSD (my stock one with Petronics was not cutting it)
· Intake manifold Performer RPM (the performer did not match up with the X303 heads)
· Roller rockers (works best with a roller cam)
· Valve covers (to fit rockers)
· Holley 670cfm carburetor (600cmf Edelbrock was not cutting it)

This is off the top of my head. I’m sure I left off many other misc. items. If you have specifics, I can let you know what I ended up doing.
