Edelbrock Carb
I have a '67 Coup with what I thought was a 289 but is now a newly rebuilt 302. A friend just sold (practically gave) me an Edelbrock CFM 750 carb that he had used for only a few months. I have ordered the intake for it but someone told me that the CFM 750 is too much carb for my engine. What problems will I have if I install this carb? Thanks, E.

650 with a something like a RPM Airgap, Performer 302, is a great combo.
You can always rejet the 650 if needed. 750 is overkill unless your making big power. |
try it out, if it doesnt work well for you sell it on ebay.

A 750 is definitely too much carb, but you might as well throw it on and see how it runs anyways. You can buy a kit out of Summit/Jegs from Edelbrock that has jets, metering rods, springs, etc. to tune it for your engine. I really recommend buying this kit, it's about $40-45.
I have a Eddy 750 cfm carb on my 351W with TFTW heads, Perf RPM intake, and a .496/.520 cam and it's too much. I have it tuned quite a bit more lean than it came out of the box. Also, Edelbrock carbs are very easy and simple to work on, but suck otherwise. |
Sell it and go to a Holley Street Avenger.
