It's finally done

5 Attachment(s)
I just want to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to everyone for helping me through the process of getting this car restored. The traction bars are on "The right way" and everything is back together. The last pic is where I started with the 6 cylinder and all the bondo. It's not a show car, but a driver and I will be driving it - every weekend that I can. Time for the next project. Thanks again!!!!
TJ

Thanks....I left off the antenna and the rocker molding - everything else is back to stock. Wheels are 215 60 R 15 and just make it.

Ok, now I am convinced, my 65 is NOT for sale!!!!! Awesome resto. Now it is time for cruising. Love the custom 2 tone seats.

Re: It's finally done

Here is the before - midpoint and after of the engine. This was before the paint and body work. It is a 289 bored .30 over with a 650 edel carb, performer rpm intake. Entire car was lowered 1 inch, heavy duty 5 leaf springs on the back 800 Pound springs up front, subframe connectors, traction bars, rear anti sway bar all sitting under the 289 and new toploader 4 speed. Last thing left to do is upgrade to front disk brakes and dual master this winter. I ran out of money this year.

Thanks for the tire size... That is the setup I think im going with. What tire would you reccommend for the back if I wanted it wider? Trying for that raked look, with wide tires in the rear..

Gorgeous looking car man we just picked up a 66 coupe kinda in the same condition that yours is in doesn't look too bad but underneath the paint you can tell it definatly needs work. Nice to get a glimpse of what our car will look like when finished. Love the rims by the way!

Re: It's finally done

Thanks to all - The tires and rims were a package deal at www.emustang.com - under $1000.00 for all 4. I went with the same size all around for the ability to rotate. I am very pleased with the outcome of 6 years of work - Time to enjoy the rewards. I will say - the car is far from show and the pics don't highlight the flaws, the wave in the paint, mis-aligned body parts and all that stuff - but I did every piece of this car myself in a garage without most of the proper tools. I never wanted a show car - I wanted a nice looking driver and that is what I got. I am not scared to drive it (and hard) and that to me is the difference between a show car and mine. I won't cry when I get bug splats all over the paint and that looming rock chip on the fender. After all - what will I have to do this winter if it was all pristene....

Re: It's finally done

Thanks a lot. You will have to send picture of those custom wheels you are cnc milling. I did use 8"x17" on the front w/4 3/4" (Close)backspacing and 9 1/2"x17" on th rear w/6 1/2" backspacing gives me 10.70" tread width. very minor modifacations. (EASY)
