Squeaking Doors

About 4 years ago I restored this car. The one short coming is the doors have always squeaked since new weather-stripping was installed and the doors had been removed and re-installed by the body shop. I complained about the noisy door jams to the body shop once and they "re-adjusted them, but they still squeak.

The body lines are good, so I know I can't really adjust anything too much there. But when I drive down the road, the things are rather noisy. It is not the hinges, but the area where the door meets the rear quarter, near the latch somewhere. I tried to silicone the seals thinking they were new and needed to be broke in. Four years later, they are still aggravating me and I want them to stop! When I am driving down the road and I lean against the door, the squeaking stops. The rubber stops were also replaced during the restoration. Any suggestions? I am not a body man, so any help or ideas are welcomed.

I have not, not until I feel more confident on which way to move it, assuming that is the fix.

Re: Squeaking Doors

I agree. More than likely the strikers need moving in just a hair. Start in small increments and move them inward about 1/16" or 1/8" and see if that doesn't stop the squeaks.
