A Bit More Performance?
I don't want to go crazy with the performance stuff but I do want to beef up my '67 daily driver a bit. Currently it has a 302. It has been rebuilt and I have added an Edelbrock Performer intake and a 500 CFM Edelbrock carb. I'm thinking about heads and a better cam and I'm looking at the Edelbrock Performer Camshaft Kit and the Performer heads. I know that everyone has their brand loyalties but would this be a good thing for me to do? Also, I see that I could go to a Performer RPM. Is this recommended or would it be a waste of money? As stated, it is a daily driver (but a SWEET ride) so I won't be taking it to the drag strips but I do like to have a bit of performance. Any suggestions would be appreciated. E.

Re: A Bit More Performance?
Cheapest way is a new rearend gear. Unless you do alot of hwy driving.
I would hold off on new heads and major motor work. I would get ahold of a roller motor for that. Lotsa 5.0 parts floating around. |

Exhaust?
Other than that... Don't get too aggressive if you want it to be a daily driver... and if you aren't going to get too aggressive, I don't know the point of going much further. IMO... A daily driver would include intake and carb upgrades, premium plugs, exhaust upgrades... perhaps a very mild cam/timing chain upgrade and distributor upgrade.... maybe even a port job. But when you start talking new heads and further upgrades taking your RPM band above 1500 to 6000, I think you are going past that and bordering on weekend cruiser. |
