having carb issues running rich

302 .30 over ported dart heads, msd, 560 flatt tappet cam, 650 holley hp 4150. Running way to rich. My first carb engine- know nothing!! bought long block off buddy, bought carb from Jegs, just bolted on. Also i have timing issues. Its a misquito killer with all the fumes and smoke out the tail pipes, Anyone close to Columbus Ohio interested in taking a look at it?

Not close to Columbus. I'm wondering what the 560 in "560 flatt tappet cam" refers to?

The lift, This is also part the "know nothing" in the paragraph. Trying to look for some direction, Changed jets (lower) and power valves, Still running rich

You might try this:
Unplug 'half' the cylinders, 1 and 4 on the passenger side, and 6&7 on the driver side. Adjust the screws on the side of the carb (see the instructions that came with the carb) to get the best engine vacuum. THen, change the cylinders (hook up 1,4,6,7... unhook the others) and adjust for best engine vacuum again. You may get better results adjusting one side of the carb at a time...... Do you have a vacuum guage? They are no very expensive, and very imprtant to have on a carbed engine.....
