D0OE heads

Hello All-

I am a visitor from the 5.0L crowd. I will be putting a 351W in my '92 eventually and the donor motor (from a '73 Galaxie500) had D0OE heads. I gave them very little thought and assumed I would going with aftermarket heads (Dart Sr's, most likely). I recently read that these heads are somewhat sought after and are similar to the GT-40's and Darts. Can you guys comment on the desirability/performance potential of these heads relative to modern aftermarket heads?
Thanks in advance for any info.

They are the '70 cast and the ones to get. I'm having a pair done in the machine shop right now. You'll need hardened seats for unleaded fuel. Probably new springs and valves. I got new seals in my rebuild kit. Many people have screw-in studs put in. The exhaust is usually ported out and polish intake and exhaust ports.

Get an estimate from your machine shop. You can probably buy a set for what it will cost you to get them redone. Like you I already had them lying around, but I'm going to save about $100 at most.
